A Love that will Last!

Okay so this is the very first post of my very first blog and I honestly spent all night thinking about what type of tone, style and format I wanted to use. As I was thinking I realized I just didn't want to choose one so I'm going to incorporate them all. So I warn you now if you aren't into the musings of an ADD blogger get off this train..now!

Ok, now that we've gotten that settled; I have always felt a connection and appreciation for music that could move me. Songs that stick with me for any particular reason I call my theme song. Today's theme song comes from Renee Olstead and it's called "I want a love that will last" - I know I know sappy right, but hey I guess I am in a sappy mood. So anyway, I was watching "Ugly Betty" and they played this song during the wedding dance and it caught me immediately. I googled the song while the episode played in the background. And I wasn't surprise to find that it was sung by Renee; though I do have to say I was shocked the first time I heard Renee's voice come out of the slightly ditzy Madison Cooperstein on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." She has a voice reminiscent of Billy Holiday, Etta James and Nora Jones but with her own unique twist. She is really working the don't judge a book by its cover slogan. Anyway, this song wins the spot as my theme song for the day because lately I have been thinking a lot about love and what it means to me. Not just the meaning but what are our expectations and are they even attainable. We all have our lists, men just as much as women, about what love will look like and what is and isn't love. "Oh... my guy will bring me flowers once a week, she'll take care of me when I am sick or we wont be able to go a day with out talking, etc." But isn't a lasing love just when the people experiencing it are able to withstand the test of time and remain in sync?  I always thought I knew what love was for me; that I had seen and experienced enough to know what I wanted and was willing to withstand for a love, but I was mistaken.  Because I am in a place where I thought I had great love securely in my grasp only to find out it was ephemeral not eternal, I sing to the heavens as well asking for a love that will last. If you're in the mood for a love that will last click below and enjoy.

  1. There is someone especially made for somone special...and you definitely fit the bill...but true love is relevant, relevant to God's plan for you...you'll see...you'll see. : )

  2. Amen to that! I agree with Love being relevant to God’s plan. However, I also believe that God’s plan can only come to fruition once we understand and practice the true meaning of Love. Yes, I know this is easier said then done…it can, however be done! I have started practicing patience, gentleness and acceptance of myself, just as I am. My daily assignment is to be glad in all my greatness and be thankful to God for another day to be even more marvelous then the day before…YES, I said it! I believe that God’s plan for my life will eventually come to pass in his perfectly selected time. My responsibility is to be aware, open and receptive to the Love, the Love that He chooses to bring into my life.
